The Patiala House court has rejected the bail plea of a photojournalist Kamran Yousuf who was arrested in connection with the alleged terror funding case in south Kashmir's Pulwama district in September. According to the reports, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sought time till 15 November for verification of certain documents. Kamran Yousuf was arrested on September 5 on charges of stone pelting and spreading rumours by the NIA and was taken to New Delhi for interrogation. Kamran Yousuf, who works as a freelance photo-journalist in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district is accused of uploading 'provocative' videos on his Facebook profile. Pertinently, union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on September 10 had assured “all possible help” in the case of Yousuf. Earlier on September 16, Press Council of India has taken a suo-motu cognizance regarding the arrest of the Yousuf and has given two weeks time to the respondents to reply to the notice. In July, the NIA arrested seven separatist leaders - Altaf Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Mehraj Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Naeem Khan and Bitta Karate - over money laundering charges to fund terror in the Kashmir Valley. On August 17, the NIA arrested Zahoor Ahmed Watali, a prominent businessman of Kashmir in the same case.
